CHICOPEE, MA, Feb. 4, 2008 – Elms College freshman outside hitter Alberto Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) was named North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) New England Division Rookie of the Week on Monday, February 4.

Bravo blasted out a match-high 28 kills to help the Blazers post a thrilling 3-2 (22-30, 30-26, 20-30, 30-26, 15-12) come-from-behind win over Emmanuel last Tuesday night, then followed with a match-high 23-kill effort to help Elms College to a 3-1 win at Lasell on Friday. 

As of the January 28 NECVA statistics report, Bravo ranked fourth in the conference in kills per game.

For the season, Bravo currently leads the Blazers with 140 kills (5.19 kills per game).

Elms College (3-3 overall, 0-2 NECVA New England), which has won three straight, returns to NECVA New England Division play at Wentworth on Tuesday, February 5. Match time is 7:00 p.m.
